bible verses about abortion

What does the Bible say about Abortion?

The Bible does not mention abortion specifically. However, many people believe that the Bible does have something to say about abortion indirectly. Many pro-life Christians are convinced that God never would have stated “thou shalt not kill” if there was no prohibition against killing innocent life. They also cite Psalm 139:13-16, which states (in part) “for you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Many of these same people point out that Jesus said he came into this world to save sinners. This is true but it doesn’t mean they think all abortions should be allowed. The problem with this argument is that most people who support legalized abortion do so because they don’t want their own children or those of someone else to suffer from a disease like Down syndrome.
