Suffering is a natural part of life. It’s what makes us stronger and more compassionate. In spite of our natural inclination to avoid pain and distress, sometimes suffering is a necessary part of life. In fact, according to some Eastern philosophies, including Buddhism and Hinduism, the very act of experiencing suffering is what leads to liberation. Suffering can be a motivating force in our lives, helping us grow and learn. It can also be an important teacher, helping us see the underlying causes of our problems and ultimately leading to their resolution.
Since the beginning of time, humans have experienced pain and suffering. While there is no easy answer for why bad things happen to good people, the Bible does offer comfort and guidance in times of suffering. Here are a few verses that may provide some hope and understanding during difficult times.
